Waste Management (WM), in coordination with the Bye Bye Mattress program that is operated by the Mattress Recycling Council (MRC) is offering a free mattress drop-off program at the Davis Street Resource Recovery Complex for all Alameda County residents – no appointment needed. The program allows for free disposal of up to a combined total of 5 mattresses and/or box springs per day (self-haul). The disposed mattresses are disassembled and recycled.

The program is funded through a $10.50 recycling fee that is collected when a mattress or box spring is purchased in California. The fee is used to establish free drop-off locations (such as this) and events, and to combat illegal dumping and mattress recycling processing research.
