Recognizing Those Who Make the Community a More Sustainable Place to Work, Learn, and Live
Each year or as nominations are received, Oro Loma Sanitary District recognizes the contributions of an individual/group, a business, non-profit organization, agency, or school for their efforts in making the community a more sustainable place to work, learn, and live.
Selection Criteria
- Nominee’s actions/achievements address a current environmental concern.
- Nominee has an established record of achievements or actions benefiting the environment and quality of life in and around Oro Loma, with commitment to continued effort long term.
- Nominee has creatively implemented or developed an innovative project related to sustainability or the environment.
- Nominee has set an example of green business practices through procurement, waste management practices, and/or policies.
- Nominee has impacted others in the Oro Loma Sanitary District community through outreach, engagement, or education efforts.
Nominations
Politically motivated nominations are prohibited. The District shall not recognize individuals preparing to or actively seeking elected office. The nomination(s) must include the following:
Nomination category:
1. Business – must possess a current, valid business license and be located within the Oro Loma Sanitary District service area.
2. Individual/Group – must be current resident(s) of Oro Loma Sanitary District.
3. Non-Profit organization, agency, school, or other community-based organization – must be located and operate in Oro Loma Sanitary District. Non-profits must have a current and valid 501(c)(3).
- The name, address, phone number and email address of the nominee, as well as the name,address, phone number, and email address of the nominator.
- Description of how the nominee has shown exceptional environmental initiative.
- Description of how the nominee’s actions/achievements have improved our environmental quality of life.

To submit a nomination, please email it to Oro Loma Sanitary District at info@oroloma.org.
Award
The Oro Loma Solid Waste Committee will review the nominations and make recommendations to the Board. Upon Board approval, the nominee(s) will be invited to attend a future Board meeting where the Board will make a presentation.
