Residential Rates and Fees Information

Oro Loma Sanitary District oversees scheduled refuse collection services provided by a private company (Waste Management) to more than 45,000 residential customers.  The District also provides residential recycling and green waste/organics collection services to its customers, in an effort to reduce the amount of material taken to landfills, in accordance with the California Integrated Waste Management Act of 1898 and Alameda County Measure D.

Starting March 1, 2018, a 2.0% monthly late charge will be applied to past due Waste Management invoices.  Invoices must be paid in full by the last day of the three-month service period.  Example: March 1 invoice covers service for March 1 – May 31; the invoice must be paid in full no later than May 31 to avoid incurring late charges.

Residential Recycling and Organics Charges

Charges effective September 1, 2021.
In the Unincorporated Alameda County area, the charge for recycling and organics service for single-family customers, mobile homes, townhomes, condos, and apartments with four units or less is $5.60 per unit per month. For mobile parks with five units or more collectively billed and paid on a single invoice, and apartments with five units or more collected on the tax roll as one parcel, the charge for recycling and organics service is $5.32 per unit per month. In the City of Hayward area, Oro Loma provides the residential organics service, while Tri-Ced provides the residential recycling service. The Oro Loma charge for residential organics service is $3.85 per unit per month, invoiced by Waste Management along with the Tri-Ced recycling charge. The cost for prepaid “tag-it” service consisting of a designated label to be affixed to a customer-provided 35-gallon bag shall be $4.84 per label.

Each residential customer account receiving wheeled cart Refuse service from the District’s designated contractor shall be entitled to two “on-call” Bulky Cleanups per calendar year free of charge, pursuant to eligibility requirements and guidelines approved by the District. Each “on-call” Bulky Cleanup could include up to three large appliances, up to four passenger vehicle tires without rims, yard trimmings and wood not exceeding 4 feet in length and 6 inches in diameter, and up to 2 cubic yards of trash and small appliances placed in trash bags or disposable containers. The cost for each additional special pick up of non-containerized Refuse shall be comprised of a $55.44 service charge, plus an additional $23.00 per each cubic yard hauled away. Bulky Cleanup collection is available only on the regular service day.
